Wonderland is Fading Away

What shattered a million years of order
was human desire.
Swollen beyond control,
there was no way to stop it,
and the forest kept disappearing.

If it is called “work,”
there is no room to resist.
People kept increasing,
those who should have stopped it never took responsibility,
and justice continues to wander.

I cut down the trees of the forest.
An enemy of justice—
that is what I was.
“There is no other way…”
I tell my reflection.

Wonderland…
the dreams of childhood.
I cut with cold eyes,
trying not to remember.

Wonderland…
I am the one destroying it.
I cut for the reasons I was told,
trying not to think.

“God, please—”

I cut down the trees of the forest.
If I may dare to wish for something,
then at least
let the trees that are cut
become someone’s happiness.

Wonderland…
it never existed in the first place.
Believing that,
I cut without hesitation.

Wonderland…
at least the one I love—
please spare them,
I pray as I cut.

“God, please, grant salvation.
Oh God… please.”
