The Predator’s Promise

Even after bringing her back with me,
I did not eat her right away.

She did not beg for her life.
She surrendered herself to the flow of nature.

“I have just one request.
I will fill your heart
completely, from its deepest place.
So please—just him.
Please do not set your sights on him…”

I thought it was a foolish plea.
And yet, I touched a love
that embraced everything.

I waited for my prey all day long,
watching everything unfold from above.
What he had stolen the day before
was something hidden for him all along.

I regretted overlooking
how desperately he struggled.
And yet, I could not let her go.
Everything must follow the natural course.

Once it was done,
there would be no obligation to keep the promise.
And yet, I realized that every choice I made
was already woven into fate.

Even if it meant choosing an unnatural path,
I decided to see it through to the very end.
“My heart has already been filled enough,”
I tell myself—
and continue to watch over him…

Thus, the story was spun.
